Message from the Executive Director

Greetings to Our Loyal FCC Supporters,

The magic of the Classic is back—and this year, it’s bigger than ever! Welcome to the 35th Annual Fountain City Classic, a milestone year filled with tradition, pride, and brand-new experiences that honor our past while paving the way for the future.

This legendary showdown between Albany State University and Fort Valley State University remains one of the most anticipated events of the year. It is a time when we come together to celebrate education, community, and the excellence of our students and alumni. This year, we are proud to introduce new traditions—including the Battle of the Drumline and student halftime competitions—that give high school talent the chance to shine on one of the biggest stages in HBCU football.

Both on and off the field, the Classic is more than a game—it is a showcase of excellence, excitement, and unity. With the launch of Fountain City Classic Cares, we are widening this commitment by opening doors for students through scholarships, providing support to band programs, and ensuring that the next generation of leaders has the resources they need to thrive.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for joining us, alongside the Fountain City Classic Host Committee, as we continue to build on a 35-year legacy while ensuring safety and community pride remain at the heart of our planning.

On behalf of Chairman Dean Calvin Smyre, Co-chairs Jean Lynn (ASU) and Sandra Ellison (FVSU), the Fountain City Classic Host Committee, President Paul Jones (FVSU), Mrs. Daphnie Johnson, Director of Athletics (FVSU), President Dr. Robert Scott (ASU), Dr. Kristene Kelly, Director of Athletics (ASU), along with the faculties, coaching staff, teams, and passionate fans of both universities, I extend heartfelt greetings. A special thank you to our corporate sponsors whose generosity continues to fuel scholarships, programs, and opportunities for our future leaders.

So get ready—Classic Magic is back! Enjoy the game, the festivities, and the new traditions.

Let’s create unforgettable Classic memories together!
